Inside the 1st minute rastrick gained their 1st corner and from it their 1st goal 0-1

Norristhorpe then took the game to Rastrick, Sam played a ball out of defence for Elliot to run onto, which the Rastrick keeper diverted for a corner. Ruddy sent over the perfect corner for T to score from close range 1-1

The defence were working hard for Norristhorpe and Danny Waite had some good interplay with Elliot with aiden and craig working hard as usual in midfield.

On 16 minutes cookie came out well to save from a through ball which was cleaned up by Sam, who sent a good ball onto Ruddy who then fed Elliot but the move came to nothing

Onto 20 minutes the visitors scored 1-2 from a corner

they scored their 3rd after 23 minutes 1-3

Aiden earned a free kick for the home side after 25 minutes, ruddy lined the ball up 8 yards outside the penalty area, and saw his superb freekick tipped over the bar.

On the half hour carl had a goal disallowed for offside.

no futher goals were scored upto half time so the score remained1-3 to the visitors

10 minutes into the 2nd half the visitors went 1-4 up after sam trying to defend a goal bound ball deflecting it into the net

then on the hour after a goal mouth scamble rastrick scored their 5th goal 1-5

on 65 minutes a good ball from aiden saw nathen burst through the visitors defence with only the advancing keeper to beat, found himself unbalanced as he took the shot only to see the ball go wide of the goal.

from the resulting restart, a long ball from the visiting keeper found the rampaging rastrick forwards,they  put the ball away to make the score 1-6

After 72 minutes a clever header from elliot onto Aiden, saw aiden take the ball in his stride and shoot the ball into the corner of the net to make the score 2-6

Straight from the kick off rastrick went 2-7 up . After a quick attack from the restart.

Rastrick scored their 8th and final goal after 76 minutes when cookie punched clear a ball from his penalty area only to see the ball smashed back into the net on the volley, making the final score norristhorpe 2 rastrick 8

Sam, t and danny white worked hard in defence even though the 8 goals tell a different story. With craig, aiden and ruddy standing out in the middle of the park.

This then allowed Lee to start as goalkeeper.

Norristhorpe went straight onto attack and within the 1st minute cookie taking the striking role quite literally took out the kirkheaton goalkeeper.

Kirkheaton made numerous attacks which all came to nothing until the 9th minute when norristhorpe did not clear the ball and the opposition scored their 1st goal of the game.

On 11 minutes Norristhorpe had a free kick taken by Ruddy which found the head of craig to the side of the area, for ruddy to follow up but shoot wide.

Kirkheaton scored their 2nd goal from a corner on 15 minutes and had a 3rd goal disallowed for offside 7 minutes later 2-0

A tactical change by Miguel saw Ahmid enter the field for Danny Waite. After 27 minutes Norristhorpe gained their 1st corner only for Aiden to head wide.

Kirkheaton did go 3-0 up in the 28th minute and after 33 minutes Carl came on for Ruddy. Kirkheaton continued to attack with Lee producing a good save and twice the visitors shooting over the bar. T, Sam and Danny white worked very hard in defence in the 1st half along with Craig, Aiden and Ruddy in midfield. The two strikers up front found it difficult up front through not receiving much ball, but Ahmid was making a difference on the left, and carl sent some decent through balls through.

At the start of the 2nd half, miguel returned cookie back into goal, shinda came on for George, and Ruddy came back on this enabled Carl to join Elliot upfront. These changes soon made a difference to the Norristhorpe play with Ruddy breaking down the wing, sending a good through ball to Carl whose shot lacked power and gave the opposition goalkeeper an easy save.

Norristhorpe then attacked down the opposite wing via Ahmid who put a good ball to Aiden who shot over the bar. After 53 minutes Danny Waite came on for Elliot who had worked hard throughout his time on the field with a lack of ball.

Disaster struck in the 56 minute when Norristhorpe conceded their 4th goal.

On the hour made a good stop saving a goal to keep the score at 0-4.

Then came a triple whammy, on 62 minutes, ruddy strode down the wing sent the perfect ball for carl to run on to and saw his shot coolly put away to make the score 1-4

63 minutes penalty to Norristhorpe, Carl slammed the ball past a rooted goalkeeper to make the score 2-4

64 minutes penalty, carl strode up again to take the spot kisk only to slam the ball this time into the visiting keeper, poleaxe him and then score on the rebound to make the score 3-4

on 75th minute norristhorpe had a golden chance to level scores, as shenda who was playing right back battled and won the ball in midfield……?  sent a through ball to carl , who raced down the wing and sent the perfect cross to a waiting Aiden in the area, only to see the ball blasted high over the crossbar.

norristhorpe were really into their stride now and were despiritly trying to find the equaliser, they found themselves with a free kick which aiden took and shot straight at the keeper, kirkheaton had one last attack but were thwarted by a save from Cookie.

BUFFET, KAREOKE, QUIZ…..ETC ETC

Norristhorpe continued with their Elliot experiment at striker. Carl alongside him as in the 2nd half of fridays game. Due to Ahmid being unable for selection.

Inside the 1st minute Norristhorpe went on the attack only for Elliot to shoot over the bar. Hepworth found Norristhorpe in a determined mood and took 20 minutes to fire there first shot on goal which was the 1st of many excellent saves by cookie in goal.

Norristhorpe gave as good as they got in a free flowing match, had a free kick far out on the right which was vicously whipped into the box from Lee but no-one was able to get a touch on it. Sam and Lee were combining well in defence along with George and Danny White, the midfield were working hard to make things happen for carl and elliot up front .

Hepworth broke through on the 25th minute only to bring an excellent save from Cookie, down at his LHS.

Norristhorpe was having plenty of the ball and were restricting Hepworth to shots from outside the box. On 27 minutes Hepworth had a corner. Which was headed out well clear from Craig to Carl who raced down field only to see the shot saved by the opposition keeper. On the 30 minute mark norristhorpe had their best chance when the ball found torres / elliot in the penalty area, only for him to shoot wide.

Elliot was showing good strength in his striking role, holding off the hepworth defence. with a good shimmy to finish off , he pushed the ball out to carl who struck the ball on the turn to see his shot saved by the keeper.

In the last minute of the first half, norristhorpe had a lucky escape when hepworth had a free kick outside the box on the right , which lee got his head to 1st only to see the ball strike the crossbar and drop into the welcoming arms of cookie.

There was still time for hepworth to mount one last attack which cookie saved from point blank range to turn the ball for a corner. The penalty was packed by both teams for the last play of this half and craig rose above everyone with a brave header clearence to leave the score at 0-0 at half time.

Norristhorpe started the 2nd half with one change, lee coming off for T. So he could deal with the high bouncing ball which was expected from the hepworth goalkeepers clearences. For the 1st half of the 2nd half the game remained scoreless.

with both teams cancelling each other out.

The hepworth coach constantly was changing tactics and players to no avail. But disaster struck on the 60th minute when the norristhorpe defence stepped out to leave the hepworth attacker off side only for him to head the ball into the net and for the goal to stand, even though everyone (both sides)agreed it was off side. 

to their credit norristhorpe did not crumble and kept out hepworth with good football. giving them the odd fright in between, but on 75 minutes norristhorpe went 2-0 down all be it undeservedly so . During the 2nd half cookie made good saves, danny white cleared off the line and craig was working hard in midfield with aiden.

There were no further goals. Norristhorpe could take far more positives from this game and should go onwards and upwards with this type of performance.

MOM – Craig who worked hard through 80 minutes, closely followed by cookie for keeping  norristhorpe in the game.

The 1st surprise came before kick-off when Elliot Stead elected to play centre forward. Due to a lack of goals this season. Straight from the start B went on the attack and had their first goal attack headed off the line by george, and the same player was doing so again within 5 minutes. After 8 mins A had their first attack only for Ahmid to shoot high over the crossbar.

Within 2 minutes George was clearing a goal bound shot for the 3rd time. The A team was under pressure for this first period and on 15 minutes elliot and Ahmid had some good interplay within the centre of the field to relieve the pressure. 5 minutes later Aiden had a shot saved by the B keeper. the B keeper quickly sent a ball down the left wing which resulted in a corner for “B”

The No 7 who took the corner to test the defense and 3rd time lucky delivered the ball direct into goal from the corner 0-1 norristhorpe B. For the next 10 minutes each side cancelled each other out, but on the half hour more good interplay between elliot and ahmid had the goalkeeper saving well and deflecting Ahmids attempt for a corner. from the resulting Danny Waite corner the ball came out to James Rudd who shot over the bar from the edge of the box. The last play of this half  saw Ahmid put through the middle of the defence only to shoot directly at the keeper.

The keeper then kicked the ball out for the B centre forward to latch onto one and thunder into the net to make it 0-2 on the half time whistle.

 ”A” found themselves under pressure and twice within the 1st 5 minutes Sam Hook copied george and headed clearances.

On 53 minutes “a” team got our break, Ahmid marginally on side ran onto a through ball ran half the lenght of the pitch, and cooly slotted the ball past the on coming keeper to make the score 1-2.

We are now starting to take command and Miguel changing the attack to 3 man with slotting Carl along side Ahmid and Elliot. Aiden had been dominating midfield for most of the match abley assisted by craig. And Sam Hook was reading the game very well in defence.

A rare B attack was well defended, 1st by george for a corner and then from Aiden.But we continued to press and on 70 minutes the killer blow came from B when the centre forward chased a ball out to his left, came back to the RHS of the penalty area and struck the ball into the corner of the net. to make the score 1-3

MOM – Elliot Stead

On the 8th minute Ahmid takes a corner kick, he curls it expertly onto the head of ryan wood who heads from the near post into the top of the furthest post.   O  -  l

Pressure then came from Saville Town for the next 10 minutes with the defence and midfield working well to keep the home team out.

Sam Hook takes a goal kick which is worked up field by aiden wood, the ball falls to James Rudd, who from outside the box chips the keeper only to be thwarted by the post.

From their kick off Norristhorpe again works the ball into attack with Ahmid making some runs from midfield down the right hand side, the ball is crossed, George Norris applies pressure on the keeper who spills it, he shoots, hitting the side netting.

21st minute, Sam  Hook takes free kick from inside his own half, chips the ball over the top of defence, Aiden Wood runs onto it, he shoots…..just over the bar.

24th  minute, corner to Saville Town, drilled into the middle of the goal mouth, Tom Cook saves.

25th minute. Ben came on for Ryan Wood, who was suffering with his chest.

35th minute Saville town attacked, Sam Hook defended from a good through ball.

37th minute again Saville Town attacked, this time T made a goal saving tackle.

Elliot Stead on the far right was getting persistently kicked and elbowed in the face by the same player eventually after the 5th offence the player was shown a yellow card.

39th minute, Danny White with a telling throw straight to the feet of  Aiden Wood who shoots first time and beats the keeper to see the ball sail just over the bar.

Half time  O – l

Second half gets under way, There were quiet a few dubious decisions again by the referee in their favour, Tom Cook was impeded and was not happy which resulted in him being booked for dissent.

On the 48th minute on one of the numerous Norristhorpe attacks, a Saville Town defender hanles the ball in the area. Penalty. Ben steps up and with a cool head sends the keeper in the wrong direction. 2 – O

From the restart saville Town attacks, again the combination of Elliot Stead and Sam Hook defends to force the ball out for a corner. At this point the game changes, im not sure if the referee was trying to incite a riot. Before the corners taken there was a bit of a kerfuffle in the box which resulted in a Saville Town player throwing a punch at Sam Hook, The S.Town player was yellow carded and Sam Hook was shown the yellow card, but the referee couldnt say why although the Norristhorpe player to his credit didnt retaliate.

Saville Town takes the corner and scores 2-1

In the 55th minute, Ahmid scores from a great dribble past numerous players into the top right hand corner At this point Ben is sent off, straight red card, no ones sure why. 3-1

The game then gts a bit scrappy for the next 5 minutes until Ahmid gets the ball, dribbles and is felled by a nasty tackle, referee plays on George runs over pushes the Saville Town player away and the referee comes back, shows george a straight red card, norristhorpe reduced to 9 players. In the aftermath Ryan Wood is show a yellow card.

The game resumes with Norristhorpe attacking, Aiden Wood runs onto a great through ball, gets taken down in the penalty area, referee waves play on, he gets up and gets taken down again,. Surrounded by 4 saville Town players, he stays down, the referee waves play on, saville Town break, the defence together withe midfield again defends well. But somehow the ball ends up in the goal 2-3

The goal keeper is not happy with the poor decisions and gets sent off when he tells his defence what he thinks. Norristhorpe have 8 players.

There is then constant pressure from Saville Town, with what we think is 15 minutes to go. To there credit and with a couple of cute substitutions from miguel. Bringing on Sam2 and Carl to tightenen up midfield. To there credit the 8 remaining players keep Saville Town out with a couple of fine saves from Ryan Wood.

The referee then played 11 minutes of extra time hoping they`d score, unfortunately for them, they didnt look like scoring. And the game was then finished. Well done lads, it was a hard game in very difficult circumstances. You were all MoM and you deserved it. Each and every one of you working hard in very intimadating circumstances.

On a different note, if a spectator gets sent off for requesting the referee “pull on a red shirt” what happens in every soccer match played when the refs told to wear glasses, and told to put the team shirt on.

T`s first goal of the season from Ruddys corner was excellent. And a hard working defence , of Sam Hook with his clearances off the goal line and free kicks earning him the man of the match award.

This was definately one to forget. And the shortness of this report sums up the quality of the game.

Norristhorpe started the match with a few changes of postition this week. And from the kick off they attacked relentlessly. George had a good break down the right wing and forced a corner from their defence.

Aiden broke through the middle of the field, set Carl up, shot goes wide.

Craig went off, after playing well in defence and T came on to firm up the middle of defence

After 10 minutes Skelmanthorpe launched an attack on goal. They broke down the defence on their  right hand side and forced Cookie into a brilliant save.

From the kick out by Cookie, Sam Hook chipped a lovely ball over the top of the Skelmanthorpe defence for Carl to split the defence and head for goal. Carl shot, keeper saves.

We were now going from end to end first Norristhorpe, shooting wide, then Skelmanthorpe attacking, defence working well together. Talking and covering each other.

On 30 minutes Norristhorpe earns a corner with some brilliant footwork by Ahmid putting George through down the right. The corner taken Elliot runs forward, volleys the ball over the bar.

Straight away from the restart Skelmanthorpe attacked, Norristhorpe stands still claiming offside. Cookie makes an outstanding save.

Norristhorpe attack – Aiden Wood chips ball through to Ryan Wood, Woody chips ball over keeper, as he runs onto it to try to score, great recovery from defence, goes out for corner.

Corner taken, Skelmanthorpe clears, ball gets stuck in mud, their midfield, picks it up, goes down their right hand side, crosses and another great save by cookie.

He kicks the ball out of goal, T collects, throgh ball to Aiden Wood, passes to Carl, he shoots, keeper saves.

The keeper kicks ball out, George collects heads for goal, free kick in front of goal just outside the box.

Aiden Wood takes it, he chips, clears the wall and shot dipping down towards the goal. The keeper got finger tips to it .

HALF TIME

Straight away from kick off Norristhorpe attacks and Aiden Wood scores l-O

Norristhorpe then has the majority of possession. Shot after shot goes wide, hits the side netting or is saved, its great free flowing football. Ahmid shot on goal keeper saves. Ryan wood hits side netting.

After 15 minutes of second half Skelmanthorpe attacked, down their right, Cookie again makes a goal saving save.  64th minute Norristhorpe again attacks Elliot and Nathen excellent ball control to take the ball upto the Skelmanthorpe defence, attack broke down, well defended Skelmanthorpe.

Skelmanthorpe attacked again, end to end this football match is going, the Norristhorpe defence held firm. The ball is cleared by Sam Hook, picked up by Ahmid and his twinkle toes, shot on goal, went wide.

From the kick off Norristhorpe midfield picked the ball up with a brilliant pick up by James Rudd, his pricise passing picked out George who dribbled towards the goal, only to be taken out by a Skelmanthorpe defence in total confusion . PENALTY. Ryan Wood stepped upto the box and scored 2-o

From the kick off Norristhorpe was dominating this game, Ruddy was attacking down the left hand side constantly, and pick out Norristhorpe players with easy. He found Ryan Wood, he shot, hit the side netting.

He picked out George, who broke down the left and shot, the keeper saved.

Skelmanthorpe was pinned in their half, Norristhorpe were stringing together some quality passing. At last your playing as a team. The defence was holding firm on the half way with the help of a very Vocal manager (Miguel)

Lee came on in midfield, and a Carl went off this was a tatical change on the foundations were solid

At this point it should have been double figures but the Skelmanthorpe keeper was having a good game.

All 14 players played their part in this game, the defence worked well together, midfield didnt stop running and the forwards had numerous shots on goal. The final whistle went, the boys were estatic, and the supporters were celebrating. To name a few, Defence,  Danny (pink boots)White , T , Sam Hook, Craig and Elliot held firm. Ruddy, Aiden Wood, George, Ahmid, Lee. Nathen, ran their socks off, and forwards Ryan Wood and Carl  had numerous chances. Well done lads.

What was noticable was that the defence were taking to each other and not shouting at each other and it worked well.

George in my opinion was Man of the Match, he did not stop battling  in midfield. And I noticed Craig on the right wing was having a good game, but was suffering a bit with illness, Elliot was more confident on the ball and was having a good wing back game when he was on. I think the passes of the match has to be Ruddy for his vision and Elliot and Nathen for a string of passes that shattered the Skelmanthorpe defence. And Aiden Wood who was everywhere defending and attacking
